Finishing the Top

To finish the border, I appliquéd the red triangles with red rayon thread. Then I couched the blue triangles with a Kreinik Metallic Braid in size medium in a matching blue. I considered couching around the inner edge of the triangular border with metallic black but decided to use the same Kreinik blue. Here’s the finished result.

I decided to use the French fleur-de-lys in the four corners as shown in the previous blog. I reduced the size of the “four-leaf clover” motif from my original design so the two would proportional to the space available.

Here is the finished quilt top. My next step is to determine how I want to quilt it. Sometimes I decide or know ahead of time. But this time, other than outline quilting next to the embroidery and appliqué, the rest of the quilting is to be decided! Working on that next.
