Yes, I am going to leave tomorrow for the Road to California Quilt Show in Ontario by way of a first stop in San Diego, but I was thinking I wasn’t going to make it. Portland was hit by an unexpectedly heavy snowstorm Tuesday afternoon thru Wednesday morning. We were supposed to get 1 – 4 inches, but at my house located in the hardest hit part of the city, we have 15″. We had thundersnow, which I’ve never heard of. Apparently, it’s quite common in the Midwest. The thundersnow dumped an unprecedented amount of snow. People are calling it Snowpocolypse and for good reason. I might have been able to enjoy it if I hadn’t been worried about getting to the airport. We are unable to get either vehicle out. We were given chains for our truck on Saturday and tried to put them on this morning. But both sets were too small. Apparently, they were mismarked. So I was more than relieved to call Green Cab Company and hear they had cabs prepared to come up my way. I have used them before and will be sure to call them again any time I need a ride. Here are pictures of the city from my house and one of my back area taken yesterday late.
I like to think when I return a week from now this will all be gone. I know it’s supposed to be, but this is our fourth snowfall already this year, so I’m not counting on anything.
I’m looking forward to the quilt show, seeing my quilt there, taking a couple classes, and catching up with some friends who will be attending.
