Aladdin and the Magic Lamp

Sally Zehrung created the quilt based on this fairy tale well known to Americans.

She writes, “The title is Aladdin and the Magic Lamp. Since I don’t do well with representing people I chose to use the moment that Aladdin first held the lamp in the Cave of Wonders, with the beginning of the genie about to appear. I included some of the vast collection of the riches found in the cave.”

I think Sally chose the perfect fabrics to convey the rich, exotic setting where the story takes place. I particularly admire her choice of border fabric and how she applied it to creatively to frame her piece.
